While the Jackson Chorale is celebrating it's 52nd season, a choral society has existed in Jackson in one form or another for nearly 100 years. In 1910, the Jackson Choral Society performed "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" on the occasion of a visit from President Taft. Many incarnations of the chorale presented oratorios, masses and other major works over the years. A newly-organized Jackson Chorale, under the direction of George V. Cripps, had its debut in March of 1955 with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, then in its fourth season. Many fine conductors have led the group including MacWilliam Disbrow, Steven Jones, James Holleman, Thomas Sheets, Stephen Osmond and our current music director Wendy Treacher
to name only a few.

Once supported by Jackson Community College, the Chorale became an independent organization forming its own board and instituting by-laws in 1992. The Jackson Chorale continues the tradition of its predecessors by performing major works from the classic composers as well as compositions by contemporary composers. The Chorale also had the honor of presenting the premier performance of Jackson's own J. Bruce Brown's composition "Legacy of Vision - Martin Luther King."
The Jackson Chorale Mission Statement:

The Jackson Chorale masters superior choral music for the enrichment and aesthetic enjoyment of the Chorale singers as well as listeners.
