Wendy L. Treacher · Music Director
Wendy L. Treacher taught choral music at the secondary level for thirty-four years with the last twenty-nine years at Northwest High School and Middle School in Jackson, Michigan. An active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, she has served the organization as President, District Manager, Summer Workshop Director, and High School State Choir Festival Supervisor (25 years). Hundreds of her students have sung in the MSVMA Regional, State and All State Honors Choirs as well as the Central Division and National ACDA Honors Choirs. Many choirs and ensembles from Northwest have sung at the Midwest Music Conference and the Michigan Youth Arts Festival. An active adjudicator, clinician, and master teacher/conductor, Wendy was named Vocal Music Teacher of the Year for Michigan in 1993, received the Carolyn Leep Scholarship in 1995, and has conducted two MSVMA State Honors Choirs. She is completing her fourth year as Music Director at her family church, 1st Presbyterian Church of Jackson, and is also in her third term on the ACDA Central Division Board as High School Repertoire and Standards Chair.

The first time Wendy was an Associate Director of the Jackson Chorale was in 1969 when she started college and her parents sang in the group. She again became an Associate Director in 2006 and was named Music Director and Conductor in 2007. During her tenure the Chorale has grown considerably and has founded a Children's Choir. They raised funds and for the first time this year, awarded through auditions four summer music camp scholarships for singers in grades seven through eleven in Jackson County. The Chorale presents several concerts each year with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and several of their own concerts as well.

Matthew Laura · Assistant Music Director
Matt Laura began his teaching career at Clara B. Ford Alternative School in Dearborn. While there, he taught middle school and high school band, choir, and general music. He then moved to Vandercook Lake Middle and High School and was charged with rebuilding a choral program that had been dormant for nearly 20 years. In his time there, the program grew from two choirs with 40 singers to seven choirs with nearly 250 singers. He also instituted the annual musical. Matt spent the last four years as one of three choir directors at Northville High School, where the 11 choirs and nearly 600 students made up the largest choral programs in the state of Michigan. He is currently the director of bands and choirs at Michigan Center Junior and Senior High School.

In addition to his teaching, Matt has served the Michigan School Vocal Music Association as an adjudicator, clinician, and as Regional, State, and All-State Honors Choir Coordinator. Matt received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan and recently completed his Masters Degree at Michigan State University. He also performs regularly as a soloist throughout Michigan, including at the Jackson Fair where he performed this past summer as a winner of the Jackson Idol contest.

Matt lives in Jackson with his wife, Karen, and their two daughters, Peyton and Kennedy.

Renée Runyon · Accompanist
Renée is is currenlty in her seventh season as accompanist for the Jackson Chorale. She is a piano performance and education graduate of Spring Arbor University and teaches private piano lessons at SAU, as well as at home. Renée is also the accompanist for the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church Worship Choir. Mrs. Runyon is in demand as an accompanist as well as an adjudicator for statewide piano competitions. Her family includes her husband, Dan, also a professor at Spring Arbor University, and their three sons.
